Hub17 Juneteenth Celebration 2024

Envisioned as a richly diverse music and art event highlighting African American history and artists of color.

Artist - Kyoko Heshiimu - Endangered Species Series.

The pieces were all made with things in nature and recycled items. Two examples: Turtles surrounded by natural elements with intricate detailing on their shells and skin. A grouse, created through a collage technique that utilizes various textured materials. The bird is composed of an array of scraps, including what looks like feathers, leaves, and small pieces of fabric, arranged to form intricate details on the bird's plumage. The artwork wonderfully captures the essence of a serene moment in nature. The deep attention to detail and the skillful use of texture and color create balanced, evocative scenes that invites reflection and appreciation. The pieces are a testament to the power of nature and the beauty in art. Our mission to elevate the Black community through art, was accomplished.
